The 10-Minute Home Network Audit Every Remote Worker Needs

In 2026, the boundary between "home" and "office" has vanished, making your home router a prime target for corporate espionage. You don't need to be a tech genius to secure your space.

Home Network Audit

The 10-Minute Checklist:

  1. Check for "Ghost" Devices: Log into your router admin panel. See a device you don't recognize? Block it immediately. It could be a neighbor's smart fridge or a "war-driving" intruder.

  2. Enable WPA3: If your router is more than three years old, check if it supports WPA3 encryption. If it only supports WPA2, it’s time for an upgrade.

  3. Isolate Your IoT: Put your smart lightbulbs and cameras on a Guest Network. This prevents a hacked camera from accessing the laptop where you do your banking.

  4. The "Kill Switch" Test: Ensure your VPN's kill-switch is active. If your Wi-Fi drops for a second, your data shouldn't leak onto the public web.
